The Association![]() The Center Square Association (founded 1958) is the oldest neighborhood association in Albany. Its mission is to promote the quality of residential living and to preserve its historic 19th century housing stock. Membership in the Association is available to all the neighborhood residents — homeowners and renters. The Association's activities are carried out by a Board of Directors, comprised of five elected officers, the chairpersons of standing and special committees and block captains. Officers are elected at the Association's annual meeting in October. The ongoing activities of the Association include sponsoring a holiday party in December, monthly Board meetings, several general meetings during the year when residents can speak out on neighborhood issues, and a spring cleanup. Center Square also co-sponsors the annual Hidden Garden Tour along with Hudson/Park and the Historic Albany Foundation. All residents of Center Square are encouraged to participate in their neighborhood association.
